Creative Applications of Machine Learning on the Web (for {Absolute} Beginners)

(Workshop)

The Workshop

This introductory workshop provides a glimpse into how machine learning (ML) can be used for creative projects. It gives an overview over different ML techniques and models that can be used to enhance creative projects in web and print. After a quick intro into the basics of ML, participants will learn how to use simple machine learning tools such as Runway and ml5.js to create interactive machine learning prototypes in the browser. No programming skills are needed, but a basic understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) might help. Every participant will need to bring a laptop.

Workshop format

The workshops will last 2 hrs and will be held in English or German, depending on the participants. The format is rather open and the contents are flexible. We are likely to cover some aspects related to object detection/classification, text2img conversion and Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs).
